PROCESS

Every case requiring a Notary will differ in respect of specific requirements and timescales, however in every case the usual procedure is:

  • the document and details of the matter (together with any instruction received from the person requesting the document) to be sent by email in the first instance for consideration in order to provide an indication of the fee and work required.

  • a subsequent appointment to be arranged during normal office hours.  Arrangements may be made to see you outside of working hours if necessary.  This may, however, incur a further fee.

  • Once the meeting has taken place, the necessary legalisation may be arranged if so required.

Evidence of your identity, together with that of any other individual named in your documents will need to be produced to the Notary as follows:

  • a valid current passport, photocard driving licence or National Identity Card

AND

  • proof of address dated within the last three months such as a bank statement, credit card statement or utility bill

The ORIGINAL documents shall need to brought to the appointment.  Copies shall not suffice and will only result in your matter being delayed.

Other documents may also be required in addition to the above for the purposes of identification such as Change of Name Deeds, Birth Certificates and Marriage Certificates, for example.

In respect of companies, partnerships, charities, clubs and other incorporated bodies, further identification requirements apply (in addition to the above):

  • Identification for the authorised signatory

  • Proof of authority to sign by way of letter of authority, minutes of a meeting, power of attorney or board resolution

  • Copy of the company's letterhead confirming the company's registered office

  • Other documentation as required by the Notary such as copies of the Memorandum and Articles of Association/Partnership Agreement, copies of accounts and tax assessments and any other relevant document
